SEGA what the actual hell, what's wrong with you...they just announced a sequel to Sonic Boom for Nintendo 3DS, titled Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice.

WHAT. SEGA, learn from your mistakes...obviously I'm not getting this lol, I don't see why they would make a sequel to their worst Sonic game, as well as one of the worst selling ones...

What else was the team going to make? I'm more disappointed that Sega broke there promise about having a new Sonic Boom game every other year.

You're joking. The one before it was frickin' terrible and now this?

Mega Man gets a revival and Sonic is just dying...

R.I.P. Sonic...Forever. This really makes me sad.

This makes Sonic '06 look very appealing.

To be fair Zero telling them to learn from their mistakes, maybe they have and this game will be a lot more enjoyable than the original.

At first I thought this was an E3 prank...
I've been begging for a good Sonic game, and this happens...

Oh my I can't believe they're making a sequel to Sonic Boom, I don't think that was a good decision. Well hopefully it's much more improved. I likely wouldn't get as I'm not interested but I think they should take their time developing this one.

Sonic '06 is barely even functional enough to be called a game... I think Rise of Lyric tops it for that reason alone, but that's just me.

I'll be honest, seeing the interviews and the team behind RoL and how the 3DS version of Sonic Boom has given me confidence they're not just bashing these games out for money and are probably going to try to tweak the formula to make it work better.

I highly doubt the game will be good, but I can see it being improved from RoL... and I'm actually interested to see what they come out with!

^ Well, they did state on their website they want to make it better than the original...but I just can't see it being even a decent game when it's built in the exact same fashion as the original. They should've just gone in a completely different direction, in my opinion.

I totally see what you're saying there... and I agree, I would prefer to see game a different direction... or ideally even a more traditional direction!

However, I would be more worried if they suddenly did take a new direction. Sanzaru's biggest game at this point is Sly 4, so they're not exactly had too much experience in other genres, with Shattered Crystal being one of their first attempts at something new...

I feel if that stick with this a little while maybe that can learn a thing or two to actually make a better game, as apposed to scrapped everything they've learnt through developing the game and the fan's responses to it in favor of a new playstyle.

Hm...I guess so. But the Sonic Boom name has already been tarnished with the original game, so I really don't think it's going to help them in terms of sales. As long as they're giving fans what they think is best though, it's fine, I'm sure they'll find some way to make it at least a bit better than the original.

The poor sales might help it out if anything. Sonic Boom really did make a terrible name for itself... so it became a total cash cow for Youtubers to put their two cents in for the curious people who wanted to know why or just to see their favorite reviewers jump on the bandwagon.

So the sequel, as we've already seen from the response, is going to be the exact same; People will be curious to see how it is... and reviewers will be dying to rip into it. So if done right all they have to do is make a generally better and improved game and they already have a sea of people singing it's praises out of shock alone!

...not that I think that this game has a hope in hell of being good, but I'm sure that's their thinking as to why a sequel could float after how the last two games bombed.

That's not too bad, I like it better than the original game's boxart. Too bad the game itself probably won't be as good. :p

At least Eggman is on the box this time and I guess the boxart is a start.
