Duel Mode -- Nessness' Attempt at Mario Party
For 2 or 4 players
For 2 or 4 players
The last Mario Party attempt failed, because of the painfully sluggish pacing and all the minor problems. Hopefully, I tried to patch these problems by converting the game into a duel mode and making extra changes, and so, it's back again.
Duel Mode was one of the two modes in Mario Party 3. If you don't know the basic rules, please watch the short video above to get an idea how it works. There are some changes from the main game though, look at them.
Changes
-You will choose your first partner, instead of getting a fixed one depending on your character.
-Instead of having a stamina, you will get points when your opponent gets hit. (1 point for 1 damage) The player with more points when 20 turns pass will win the game.
-Game Guy Spaces no longer exist, Bowser Space and an Item Shop has been added.
-If there is an item shop on the board, and then you buy items there. If there is no item shop on the board, you and your opponent's start areas work as an item shop.
-Item Shops will have four items on stock, and you can buy as much as you want, but you have to discard one if you have more than three items. See the glossary below for the list of items.
-Bowser Spaces always trigger a multiplayer Bowser Mini-game. The loser(s) either lose coins, items, or points.
-Normal mini-games might randomly change to steal mini-games where the winner can steal coins, items, or points from the loser.
Here is the glossary, with the list of items, partners, and happening space effects. I'd advise you to take a look at the items and the partners.
