Splatoon is Now the Best Selling Wii U Game in Japan

Splatoon is now officially the best selling Wii U game in Japan, in combined retail and digital copies. (and expected to surpass Mario Kart 8 in retail alone this week)

This is awesome! Splatoon is definitely the best Wii U game out there, so it's well deserved. It's really shocking for a new IP, especially a shooter, which generally don't do all that well in Japan. It's getting close to being the best seller worldwide on Wii U too, it's just behind a few of the big ones like Smash and Mario Kart.

Very impressive. It's quite an accomplishment to outsell Mario Kart 8. I'm glad the game has done so well. The game is great with the whole squid transforming and ink idea so I think it has deserved the success. The Wii U bundles must have helped too.

I checked the recent eshop charts here and Splatoon is fairly high up on them. It is good to see that the game has done well here too.

The game is more popular in Japan for sure and it seems like everyone was wrong about the game being a big flop there.

I'm glad the game's doing incredibly successfully, which I'll admit I wasn't too sure if it would reach how far it's gotten now back in early 2015. It's such a great game and I'm so proud of it.
