Max Brass will be added as the first free update character in July.


He seems like a better Spring Man and of course tons of people said he looks like All Might.

I love that his arms are made of belts. He looks to be another pretty awesome character, there isn't a character in this game that I dislike actually, I think I'll probably use all of them.

Mr Yabuki is a slayer

I do hope Max Brass actually has some sort of 'weakness' per se (hopefully mobility related) because being Spring Man+ is kinda blegh for Spring mains

After seeing the reaction to Mr. Yabuki, now I REALLY hope ARMS can go big competitively.

Just bought ARMS but haven't been able to play yet! I've been so excited since it was shown off tho. Who else wants to play with me at some point?

Nice to know that Mario and Link where used for the ARMS prototype and that more new modes will be coming at some point.

Once I'm actually able to get the game and a Switch I'm down to play. The question is when that'll be able to happen. xD

Interesting. Nintendo has mentioned in the past how they like to create characters that best fit the way a game plays, meaning they wouldn't actually have had characters designed beforehand. So using Mario and Link definitely makes sense, but I think this was for sure always meant to be a new IP.

Nintendo has released a new update for ARMS on Nintendo Switch, and is available for download now.

From our first impressions with the update, they’ve added a Party and Arena mode for local and online multiplayer.

In the Party Mode, you can fight a variety of stages and modes using customizable rules. Max 10 consoles per lobby.

In the Arena mode for those who are into playing competitively, it changes, for now, you take turns fighting one-on-one matches, while the rest spectate in the new spectator mode. Max 4 Players per lobby.

Nice to see party and arena added to give players more modes to pick from.

Already adding some new content and making fixes! That's always great to see. Can't wait to get my hands on this game once I have a Switch.

Max Brass will be released on July 12th .



I can't wait to try him out and I do wander what happens if you use him in Grand Prix.

He does look pretty cool to play as, but I haven't played the game at all yet so I wouldn't really know how he compares to the others. I am surprised it took this long for the first update to come out though, I figured it'd be closer to Splatoon/Splatoon 2's release rate.

New ARM “Nade” added.
New ARM “Roaster” added.
New ARM “Kablammer” added.
New stage “Sky Arena” added.
New versus mode “Hedlok Scramble” added.
Punch or touch the capsule containing the Hedlok mask to become Hedlok for a period of time.
This can be selected in Versus, Friend, or Local and it will also appear in Party Match.
”Stats” added to the Top Menu.
Check stats such as your most used fighter, best stage, and ARM accuracy.
”Events” added to the Top Menu.
Here you can set whether or not you want to join official online events.
Snake Park has been swapped out for Sky Arena in the Ranked Match stage roster.
Raised highest rank in Ranked Match to 20.
Increased the penalty for disconnecting during Ranked Match play.
Shortened the amount of time necessary for the following ARMS to return after being extended, making them easier to use: Megaton, Megawatt, Revolver, Retorcher, Boomerang
Increased movement speed of the Guardian.
Improved visibility during charge attacks for the Popper and Cracker.
Increased the amount of time necessary for the following ARMS to return after being knocked down, increasing risk: Popper, Cracker, Hydra
Increased the amount of time it takes to recover when a grab is deflected with a single punch.
Decreased the amount of damage when the Hydra’s rush connects with multiple consecutive hits.
Decreased the distance Kid Cobra travels when jumping.
Fixed issue where in some instances Ribbon Girl could remain airborne for an overlong period of time while continually attacking.
Fixed issue where Ninjara would not destroy the light boxes on the Ribbon Ring stage when getting up.
Fixed issue where the time necessary for the Triblast to return when deflected was shortened.
Fixed issue where ARMS such as Blorb and Megaton would catch on the ground and fail to fire.
Fixed issue where explosive ARMS would sometimes fail to explode when receiving an attack.
Fixed issue where the Slapamander would sometimes fail to hit Helix when he is extended.
In online play, fixed issue where the appearance or non-appearance of items could differ between devices.
In online play, fixed various issues with V-Ball including an issue where the ball would remain grounded and play would not proceed.
In online play, fixed an issue where sometimes Barq would continually defend against an opponents’ rush attack for a set period of time.
In online play, fixed issue where sometimes pillars in the Scrapyard would not be destructible.

Hedlo Scramble is a nice surprise and it's nice to see them fixing so many little issues.

While obviously not nearing the huge hype Splatoon had/has (Splatoon 2 is already the best selling Switch game in Japan despite shortages lol) ARMS seems to be another successful new multiplayer IP for Nintendo, as it has sold over 1 million copies to date worldwide! We can also expect it to sell probably at least double or triple that over its lifetime if not more, due to Switch being out of stock everywhere and still early in its lifespan.

I hope Nintendo does a year of updates for ARMS as while so that the roster can hit 20 characters and over 50 different ARMS, Congrats on making another fun new IP Nintendo even if most of the fighting game fans have been setting this game up for failure.
