Here's some rules to follow while posting on TNFS! First of all, there are a lot of ways to spam when posting. Please don't do the following:
1. One-Worded Posts
One-worded posts don't add anything into the discussion. For example, answering "yes" or "agreed" are not adding anything to any conversation, and can be seen as simply trying to increase your post count. (see #2) Exceptions are allowed in ask topics. (Such as answering 'yes' or 'no' to a question when there aren't any other words you could possibly use to answer the question) and in some games in The Lounge, where you are only posting a number.
2. Post Pumping
Post-Pumping is posting something simply to increase your post count on TNFS. Examples include double posting when it isn't necessary, or making one-worded posts.
3. Alternate Accounts
Alternate accounts are unallowed. This can include creating another account when you're banned simply so you can continue posting, or for other reasons. Admins will be allowed create alt-accounts so we can view the forum from a standard member's point of view, but regular members are unallowed to create a separate account.
4. Asking for a Staff Position
Please don't do this, you will not be upgraded to Staff. Administrators choose who gets to be on the Staff if they really do deserve it and are fitting for the task. Asking to be a mod or something of the sort will not get you a spot on the Staff, in almost every case.
5. Advertising
Advertising for your website or product is not allowed. Please don't come here specifically to advertise or you will be banned. You are allowed to post a link in your signature, or post in your blog. (as long as you are still contributing to the forum otherwise) However, like I previously said, if you are here only to advertise, you will be banned.
6. Swearing
Swearing is allowed on TNFS to an extent. It depends on your swearing and the level of severity used.
Like if I called one of you guys a "mother f*****' b**** n****", then that would obviously be both BAD and OFFENSIVE. However, if you were to use a really minor word that isn't usually regarded as offensive in general, then it should be fine.
However, please remember that swears should NEVER be used to talk about any single person, at least on this forum. (this rule quoted from Fluffiness~ in a separate post)
7. Flaming
This should be pretty self-explanatory already, most of you know not to attack other members due to opinions, beliefs, or anything in general. (debating is another story, and the staff will decide whether a post may fit the criteria to be counted as flaming or not) Please don't attack members for any reason.
Ban requests:
Ban requests will allow you to ask an admin to have you banned for a specific period of time, if you want to be unable to access the forum for a period of time. I'm aware most members would rather just leave and return as they wish, however, this system will help certain members, as well as reduce confusion between these "guest" posts seen for deleted users. As for deleting your account from here on out, you may be banned if you try to return. (we're still trying to figure this out though)
Warn system:
Basically, that bar on your profile is a ban meter. As you get warning points, the meter will increase. When the meter is full (100 warning points), you will be banned. Warning points will be added to your ban meter based on the following rules being broken:
Spam post- 5 points
Post pumping- 15 points
Advertising (other than sigs and blogs)- 20 points
Nonsensical post- 20 points
Spam in Chatbox - Banned from Chatbox (50 points if 2 or more offenses)
Reach 100 points and your meter will be filled, and you will be banned.
Bans differentiate with the amount of time banned, however.
In addition, new items may be added to the rules over time. I won't always make a post to advise you of these, unless it's a major edit, so please check back here frequently.
