Mallow
Mallow is has been an interesting character so far when it comes to his mechanics. As an actual character, he's all over the place... A marshmellow that claims to be a frog? Yeah okay. Plus I don't think anyone really likes the cry-baby type of character... but he seems to of snapped out of that a little now.
As you can see here, all of his general stats are low (Mario at this point has a 50 in attack) so you may want to brush him off quickly as useless. But I have high hopes for him due to his special abilities.
His first special skill is "Thunderbolt" which can deal great damage to every enemy on the field, since this guy can hold a lot more magic than Mario this becomes really useful. So that you're not relying on powered up hits... or even to make it a OHKO for both Mario and Mallow.
Then he gets his best ability yet, the HP Rain move. This will become amazingly useful during those tight moments, and it's kind of bliss to have at the start of the game so early. Fully healing your character when you know your character's move will be useless as an attack is perfect.
Then there is his Psychopath move, which... I'm not too sure what it does, I think it tells you the HP of the enemy, which isn't too useful to me as I just bash enemies till they die... (Their HP should really be on screen at all times...)
But with more stat moves like this then Mallow could become a great assist character to the team, something to boost stats, something to inflict status effects onto enemies... sounds a right treat to me!
But that's just what I'm hoping for... with this being my first playthough I've yet to know if he gains anything decent though time...
I honestly have high hopes for Mallow, I'm also personally boosting him in Special now because if this. I did start with a little HP... maybe I could balance the two due to him being so weak to attacks at times...
