Well... that sure was an experience.
I had a lot to say about that chapter, but honestly... it's probably been my favourite moment throughout the whole game so far, and Booster could of just made my top 5 Mario characters list.
- Spoiler:
- So, it starts off with a simple path from the land of Moles to Booster's Castle, in which Bowser wishes times could go back to how they were... I actually really loved this part, I love it when a greater evil is around and forces a main character and an old enemy to team up.
The "How're you doing?" part was jut great, to me it feels like this is where the Kart games start, like Bowser being naturally nice to you is the point where is like "yo, wanna go kart racing later?".
Anywho, Bowser is the perfect power house to replace Geno, so I use him though out the castle, fighting against some of the best enemies in the game. Snifits, Jesters, Puppets, Magical Healing rods, this part of the game had it all!
The castle's atmosphere was great, we've seen characters like Croco "run away" from you, but nothing like Booster. Just is face alone peering our doors and replacing pictures was brilliant. I just love that guys face, man.
Then when he comes in on his little train and this kick in... it's just amazing. The character is overall amazing. I wish he were Wario, like booster became an actual main rival to Mario, but I'll go into this later.
So it's now clear Toadstool is at the top of this castle, so you must go forth a fight more enemies while climbing up his castle, now adding Chain Chomps and Bob-ombs to the mix, nothing new but, still cool.
A small Puzzle or two is thrown in, just "put Boosters pictures in order" and "try not to step on the blue blocks" tasks, nothing big, eventually you reach the top.
Now this bit made me literally laugh, I thought it was fantastic, a real Mario and Luigi themed giggle her. Mario, after attempting to get the Princess out of a locked room, now had to hide due Booster coming in. Mario hides behind a curtain while they're being randomly opened by Snifits while Mario jumps from curtain to curtain.
Being able to actually play Mario in that point was brilliant, I actually felt the "OH GAWD GOTTA HIDE" vibe, and Booster looking for a doll was just funny as it is.
So, he grabs Toadstool and runs off, but then these two random bosses come... right... so where is fighting Booster at? Well, okay, he ran off... but two random Knife and Magic guys who just came out of no where? Lame...
So after beating them two joke characters you play this "running up a hill" mini game, again, these mini games are a nice break from the repetitive battles you get. I gotta admit, I found this one pretty hard, and it's lucky you can't really lose them... as I only actually scored a 2 on it.
Anyway, So now at Marrymore, a bit of a disappointing ending to the chapter, Find some items, no Booster battle... Battle a Random Cake that... Booster ends up eating... I really wanted to battle Booster, see his special moves and what-not... such a build up for this guy... just to eat cake... maybe later in the game, I mean Croco came back for a rematch... but... I as of now... pretty disappointing.
But at the same time, that's what would make Booster a great Rival to Mario, instead of Wario. Booster also just wanted the princess, but never actually fought him, so it's like the neutral moments would make more sense, maybe they should of canned Waluigi and make Booster the second Wario-Brother...
I had a lot to say about that chapter, but honestly... it's probably been my favourite moment throughout the whole game so far, and Booster could of just made my top 5 Mario characters list.
