Splatfest #12

Splatfest #12 is coming this Saturday, and the theme for North America is 'would you rather build a snowman or a sandcastle?' The theme for Europe is Hoverboard vs. Jetpack.

I never thought I'd say it but Europe actually has the better Splatfest theme this time around. But for the NA Splatfest I'm probably going with sandcastles. As much as I love the snow, snowmen I've made in the past (granted I haven't made one since I was a kid) have never turned out well. Neither have my sandcastles but you can be more creative with them.

I have to agree about the European splatfest being better. I would go for jetpacks, for high speed and high altitude. May go snowman for NA splatfest because I enjoy snow more than the beach. Although I have a feeling it will be more popular, I hope the update fixed past popularity problems.

^ Speaking of the update, I forgot that this is also the first of the "new" Splatfests with the new mechanics. I hope Splatfest Power will make it feel more even. I'm pretty excited to see what exactly it does.

I will likely go with Sandcastles since Snowman is sure to have tons of Frozen posts. I might not play this time though since the choices are kind of week.

I disagree, the theme for NA theme sounds better than the Europe splatfest theme. I don't care for jetpacks or hoverboards.

I'm not sure which side to pick yet. Likely Sandcastles despite loving snow. I feel you can be more creative with sandcastles than snowmen. Building extravagant castles made of sand, Peach's Castle if you wanted.

Sandcastles win this time.



I would have picked Sandcastles if my internet did not go out last night and at least it was close this time.

Nice! I've been winning the past couple of Splatfests which is nice.

Also, this was probably the most fun I've ever had playing Splatfest. The Splatfest Power made it so much more competitive and interesting, and I enjoyed my time quite a bit more because of it. It also made it much more balanced than it was previously.

The results look fairly close. I was part of Team Sandcastle. It was a really fun Splatfest. I played a little after gaining the royalty rank. Fought about 5 Sandcastles in the mix. Had my fair share of victories and defeats. I started at 1000 Sandcastle Power and ended at 1117 Sandcastle Power.

This one felt more competitive and enjoyable to me.

^ Wait you can get different amounts of Splatfest Power not in increments of 10? I just lost or gained 10 power points depending on whether I won or lost, I wasn't even aware that could happen, interesting.

Even though I lost, I think this is the most fun I've had in a Splatfest! I ended with 1611 Splatfest Power. Loved the new matchmaking, I feel like it was more balanced. The increase to 6 points a win plus 2 was my favorite change, made the climb to King faster, that or it was me. What a close battle, but I kinda thought that Sandcastles would win

I believe I gained and lost points in increments of 10 for the most part. I noticed it went up by about 8 at one point. All the matches I played eventually shaped it up to that number. I don't know what determines how much is lost or gained after a battle. Could it be similar to how it is determined in ranked battle?

I didn't even know that the Splatfest Power affected rank points at first. It went up normally for me.
