    Nintendo - Nintendo 2DS Empty Nintendo 2DS

    Post by Gameguy1996 Wed Aug 28, 2013 1:51 pm

The Nintendo 2DS is a new model of the Nintendo 3DS that can play all of the Nintendo 3DS and all of Nintendo 2DS games.

    Nintendo 2DS

The newest member of the Nintendo 3DS family is designed specifically for anyone looking for a more affordable entry point into the world of Nintendo hand-held video games. Nintendo 2DS will be available in Red or Blue on Oct. 12 at a suggested retail price of $129.99.

Nintendo 2DS plays the entire library of packaged and downloadable games for Nintendo 3DS only in 2D. The system features a distinctive fixed, slate-type form factor, and optional carrying cases will be available in Red or Blue at launch at a suggested retail price of $12.99. Nintendo 2DS maintains many of the same hardware features as Nintendo 3DS: dual screens, game-play controls and touch-screen features. The system also has backward compatibility with the existing library of more than 2,000 Nintendo DS games, as well as access to wireless connectivity features like multiplayer online game play, fun Nintendo Video content and great digitally delivered games in the Nintendo eShop. People eager to test drive the new system will have the chance beginning in October, when Nintendo 2DS joins a sampling tour in conjunction with Simon Malls that visits several different markets before it wraps up on Nov. 3. For more information about the tour, visit http://www.nintendo.com.

I really don't understand why they did since you can just turn off the 3D but, I guess it's there for people who like to save money.

That is the weirdest thing ever...what. I totally didn't expect that...I guess it's a good kove for people looking to save some money and don't use the 3D? I don't see the point since they already have the 3D slider...

I feel like this is good if you don't want the 3d, and you want to pay less, but uh, with the commercial it looks like it's targeted for more young children I suppose.

Yeah it does seem really uncomfortable, since the back is thin at the bottom and gets thicker up higher.

Also it looks like a chunk of plastic honestly, really ugly.

What I want to know is how the d*mn thing closes? D: Personally. I'd get one of these for myself as I always end up trading Pokemon to myself; that and my sweetie has been snitching my 3DS to play Animal Crossing New Leaf & Mario & Luigi Dream Team as of late. xp

Actually I'm going to bump this in order to answer my own question about the 2DS; as the 2DS is ONE console. It's has no hinges to it.

    source

Nintendo 2DS is Actually Made With Just One Screen

An interesting innovation. Earlier today Nintendo formally announced the 2DS, which is essentially a 3DS that doesn't show images in 3D. Interestingly, it does not feature the typical clamshell design we're all used to and it turns out that would have been pretty tough to accomplish, as the 2DS is in fact made up of just one screen — the appearance of two is just an illusion created by the casing.

In a product outline on USgamer, it's stated that in order to lower costs Nintendo reduced the number of screens in the system from two to one. Of course, this means the whole screen is a touchscreen but the top one cannot be pressed as it is protected by a layer of plastic that sits above it.
It would be interesting to know if this is the reason for the lack of clamshell design, though it's likely also down to the child-friendliness the lack of a hinge brings to the console.

Yeah, it doesn't have the "clamshell" design that's been there since the Gameboy Advance SP, but I didn't know it was made with just one screen. Does that mean the top screen is also a touch screen that just doesn't do anything on the 2DS?

I still think it is a joke.
    Well, maybe not...
It still looks like it won't sell though.

I think it WILL sell simply due to the fact that it's $40 less than the Nintendo 3DS.

If it does wind up selling well, Nintendo might actually use the design of the 2DS for their future handhelds...that would be terrible because it looks so uncomfortable...

Actually according to the source I linked; the top part of the touch screen is just protected by a plastic layer & can't be used.

I can see Pokemon fans buying this since some of them hardly spend any money.

    Here's a joke video about the 2DS.

The best part of the video is when the guy but the 2DS in that garbage bag. Laughing

^ Yeah that was the funniest part.

I still think the 2DS will sell outrageously well.
