It sucks that this was leaked before the NDE, but it still looks better than I would've expected. I might get this if it's $15 or less. I always thought it was odd they never had a Mario level editor before, especially for NSMBU.
Oh, this game allows you to create levels both in Super Mario Bros. AND New Super Mario Bros. U by the way.

Takashi Tezuka wrote:"Obviously, there will be other graphical styles included and nothing's been decided yet, but I'd also like to include other graphics that aren't Mario. No, it won't be top-down (like Zelda) It's always going to be a 2D platformer."
He also said that there will be more objects and enemies, and possibly a music creator like Mario Paint. I'm glad, because it looked really boring with only the objects and enemies included in the demo. Although I still probably won't get this unless it's $5 or less. XD
Tezuka has come out and said that you will be able to share your levels online.
Go Nintendo wrote:A big part of Mario Maker will be making Mario levels, but an equally big part is sharing those levels. Nintendo has been tight-lipped on just how that will work, but Mr. Tezuka recognizes the necessity. In the most recent issue of EDGE, Mr. Tezuka stated, "There will need to be a system for sharing courses online."
- Super Mario Bros. 3, World visual styles included - add coins to bullet blocks - giant sprites for enemies - reconfirmed for 2015 - Miyamoto says Mario Maker could become a series of its own
It's cool how you can also change to the Mario Bros 3 and World visuals. Though the game still looks like it needs work.
Looks better, I'll say that. If it's $20 or under, I'd definitely pick it up! Looks like it's improving, although how can they only have gotten that far for a level editor game? I mean really, if they're not adding new art styles, they have all the assets, it can't take long to make. I'm guessing they're doing something else on the side or something. Only 2015 so far? I still think it'll be March or April.
Wow, I didn't notice all of those details! They made me way more excited for this game. I actually think I'll probably end up buying the game when I can now. I'm especially excited for all of the new combinations such as enemies in the item blocks and cannons.
What else do you guys want to see from Mario Maker?
I'd like 2 or 3 more artstyles, maybe Super Mario Bros. 2, and a few from non-Mario games like they said might happen. I'd like all of the powerups from the games included, except for maybe the cape feather, the Tanooki suit pretty much does the same thing but is way better and more recognizable. I think they should add new enemies, and more areas. But other than just more of what is already there, I think it would be cool if they added a music and background editor, so we could use our own music and create level types not seen in the actual Mario games.
I saw this video a while ago and It also made me want the game more. I also agree about the things you listed. Though a few extra characters such as Luigi and the Toads would also be cool.
New info from an interview with Miyamoto: "Recently Nintendo execs have been teaming up with YouTubers to talk about their upcoming games to get some more publicity. Popular broadcaster iJustine recently got to speak to Mr Miyamoto in an exclusive interview in which he reconfirmed that you’ll be able to play other people’s course online in Mario Maker and rate them. There will be popularity rankings to determine the best creations, so you’ll know what’s hot and what’s not.
'You’ll be able to see what happens when other people play your course, or when you play other peoples courses… there’ll be popularity rankings for the most popular courses and things like that… so there’s a lot on the community side [that you can use].'"
