I guess this is good for the people who make those crazy long levels. I wanted to see other updates though such as different level themes and enemies.

Re: Super Mario Maker
I'll hop on that train as well, I REALLY feel more needs to be done with fire, giving mushrooms to just about anything makes them bigger, make fire variations when giving them a Fire Flower.Bossblitz88 wrote:^^^^^^^^^This so muchYoshiman222 wrote:CHECKPOINT HYPE
Definitely wanted to add some of these in some of my levels I already uploaded tbh.
Now where's my Fire Flower on Enemies things I've wanted?
I want Fire Bros. and Flame Chomps. And Goombas on Fire
And melting Ice.
Instead of shaking the Piranha Plant to make it a Venus Fire Trap, make it into an upright Piranha Plant, and use the Fire Flower to change into the Venus Fire Trap.
The checkpoints were vital for a lot of the longer quality levels, so that's good. Never expected the arrows to be the one shaken in order to get a checkpoint, though. The question block thing mames it feel more like a level, so that's also promising. The event stages I would've expected to be more, uh, interactive? The courses from events are neato, but I would've liked something along the lines of competing for scores, times, or maybe themed levels (hint hint halloween).
Also they haven't really described the Event courses have they? I assumed that would be their purpose, if they don't have any interesting win methods like getting the highest score, most amount of coins, etc. I don't really see the point...

Re: Super Mario Maker
Arino Kacho's level will be one of the special levels.
I guess the other level will be the Famitsu one then.
The Mario Maker course that Arino Kacho made goes live alongside the new update. Available across all regions. pic.twitter.com/g0OE2V00P3

Re: Super Mario Maker
The cat suits for Super Mario Maker are a nice addition and fit well in a 2D Mario platformer. However, they could have added the Super Bell as a powerup and then add both Cat Luigi and Cat Peach as costumes. That would have been sweet but just the costumes are good too.

Re: Super Mario Maker
^ I would LOVE that, it'd be really interesting to see how the cat suit would work in a 2D Mario game, but oh well. The costumes are still cute and I look forward to playing the levels.
EDIT: It's been confirmed updates in the style of the one earlier this month will continue as the game is being viewed as a service.
I'm really happy about that, I feel like there's a lot the game is still lacking, but the checkpoints are a nice start.

Re: Super Mario Maker
The GLA is back in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Nintendo wrote:“Wii U Owners Can Play a New Event Course and Unlock a Vehicle-Themed Costume
Mercedes-Benz has created an original Super Mario Maker Event Course that will be delivered with a special costume for players to unlock at no additional charge. The course, called Mercedes-Benz Jump’n’Drive, arrives today and includes an unlockable Mercedes-Benz GLA costume that shows Mario in the driver’s seat. Once players unlock it by completing the level, they can add it to their collection of Mystery Mushroom costumes.
The Mercedes-Benz Jump’n’Drive level is available in the “Event Courses” section of Super Mario Maker, which showcases special levels presented by Nintendo and partners.
“Super Mario Maker continues to grow and evolve with new courses and content,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “It’s great that a luxury car brand like Mercedes-Benz recognizes the ability to create fun courses and share them with others.”
This special content marks the second time that Mercedes-Benz has made fun additions to a Nintendo game: The GLA is one of multiple free downloadable vehicles in Mario Kart 8. The new Super Mario Maker Event Course was created by Mario fans at Mercedes-Benz who were inspired by the GLA’s appearance in Mario Kart 8 and wanted to build a level with Mario taking the GLA on a road trip. The Mercedes-Benz Event Course takes players through a variety of automotive-related areas, including being at the dealership, taking a test drive through a city and eventually cruising down the autobahn. And as with any good Mario level, some surprises wait to be discovered.
“We are delighted to once again be represented in a blockbuster game like Super Mario Maker,” says Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz cars. “Mercedes-Benz and Super Mario have a lot in common. Above all, they share the same vision: to inspire their customers and fans.”
The Super Mario Maker game lets players create, play and share their own Mario courses using a wide array of enemies, objects and power-ups. Millions of courses have been uploaded for people to play, many using elements of the Mushroom Kingdom in ways never before encountered. Nintendo also has previously added a course designed by Facebook, the course featured in the final round of the 2015 PAX Prime Omegathon and other courses designed by Nintendo.
The Mercedes-Benz Jump’n’Drive level is available in the “Event Courses” section of Super Mario Maker, which showcases special levels presented by Nintendo and partners. The level from Mercedes-Benz, the game’s exclusive automotive partner, can be downloaded for free by everyone who owns the game.”

Re: Super Mario Maker
Really Nintendo, more Mercedes-Benz advertising? Although, it does make sense considering the Japanese commercials for the Mario Kart DLC.

C'mon Nintendo, is that ALL you can advertise?
Who knows, maybe there might be a snow-related update near the holidays...

^Bowser you don't understand this at all.
Mercedes is paying Nintendo to do this.
It's actually great for Nintendo having a corporate partner.

Re: Super Mario Maker
I was just asking why Nintendo can only work with one company on Mario games like this (not including sports) and if they can team up with anybody else...

Re: Super Mario Maker
I always wondered how they got so many name brands in Pikmin 2, I thought it was a pretty fantastic way to advertise the products while making it feel like they were part of the world (and that they made sense being placed in the world) while also not being intrusive at all. That was great.

^Yeah, it actually feels good to see real brands in games, like how PEZ got in Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash.

Re: Super Mario Maker
Personally I like to see creative made up brand name products in video games like how Mario Kart 8 had stuff like the "Burning DK" sports drink, there's a ton of made up sponsored stuff in the Mario Kart series. I feel that real products at times can feel out of place in the world but it really depends. Real sponsors and products can be good too though, it makes sense in Pikmin 2 because of the setting. There is a thing as too many of them however.
Nice to see the Mercedes in Super Mario Maker, that being a costume is amusing.
