Yeah, I'm basing all my experiences from the first one too...

I really need to go back and actually finish it... but I always end up being a Machop... and it's so hard to work with.

Really, odd I've beaten the first one with Machop, Cubone, Psyduck and Blastoise no problem.

Heh, I blame the gameplay style too... not my cup of tea.

And I never new how to evolve into a Machoke...

Is the gameplay in this like the main Pokémon games, or is it different?

Some of the RPG elements follow, but the way you explore caves, act as a pokemon and whatnot are way different. This game can be very slow-pace.

I have enjoyed Explorers of Time so far, so I am thinking I will get Gates to Infinity. You're right about it being slow-paced DJ, but I find it kinda fun.

Yeah I'm still playing Sky, at times time/darkness/sky go slow, but they can make up for it with some interesting twists with story.

Try the demo for Gates to Infinity before you pick it up.

THOSE GAMES ARE AMAZING. (It is right behind Earthbound in my Favorite Games)
I find everything in Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon captivating- including the Story, the Setting, and the Gameplay. Even the music is amazing. Though I like the Rescue Team Games, my favorite is still Explorers of Sky. I want to play Gates of Infinity too, but that wasn't released at South Korea..
But though I said they are amazing, these games are not for everybody. So try it out first before playing it.

^ Uh, I certainly wouldn't use 'amazing' to describe them myself. Quite the opposite. Razz Just in my opinion of course, but I think they get pretty boring and are honestly not enjoyable at all, outside of the story being slightly more interesting than a normal main series Pokemon title.

That is why I said it is not for everybody, the gameplay might feel boring for some people.

Personally I love the Mystery Dungeon series BECAUSE of their stories. But yea; the series definitely isn't for everybody. Razz

^ Well yeah, and that's the only thing I really like about the Mystery Dungeon games. I also think the stories are at least somewhat interesting, especially in comparison with other Pokemon games. It's just that there's not much depth to the game itself is all. I don't think they're bad, but I also don't think they're that good either.
