    Nintendo has just recently filed a trademark for the NES controller's design and layout. It's unknown what it's for...but it certainly seems interesting! Source

    I have a feeling it has something to do with their mobile games, but maybe not. I'm not sure what other purpose this would serve though.

    Interesting. I'm not sure what it could be for. I think the next NX might have the layout of an NES Controller, but I don't think that would work well. Maybe there will be an adapter for the systems like Luma said. Working for NES VC and likely NES Remix.

    Of course it could be something mobile related because this is after the partnership. Could be a ton of possibilities with this.
