The 2015 thread for this was fun to look back on at the end of the year, so I figured why not do it again for 2016? Here you can post any predictions you have for Nintendo in 2016. It can be anything related to Nintendo, whether it be based around games/hardware they release, their financials, release dates, etc. (but it has to be at least partially Nintendo related, if someone wants to make a thread for other companies you can)
Here's mine, I'll probably edit or add some within the next few days though:
- NX will release in 2016, with both console and handheld portions
- Wii U won't be kicked to the side, as it'll still have at least somewhat good support throughout most of 2016 (although certainly not great based on what we know so far)
- E3 will be the reveal for many of the NX launch and launch window games, while NX itself will be revealed earlier
- A new 3D Mario game will be released at NX launch
- A new Animal Crossing title will released during NX launch window and be revealed at E3
- Pikmin 4 will be an NX launch or launch window title
- Zelda will come to Wii U but also NX with improved features
- Square Enix will be releasing at least a couple of titles at NX launch, whether they're brand new or ports
- A new game showing off the NX console's features similar to Wii Sports and Nintendo Land will release at launch and will have a bundle
- Some minigame collection game will also be released at NX launch or launch window
- NX power will be similar to PS4 and Xbox One, maybe slightly more powerful (but not by much)
- Nintendo will try to get third parties on board for NX but won't be 100% successful
- NX will still be backwards compatible
- My Nintendo will be a huge part of NX and will be it's main account system (rather than having a separate one with NNID)
- Splatoon will have a huge update at the end of January, but will also still continue with minor updates for some time after January (only stopping with new weapons)
- Metroid Prime: Federation Force will release in May and won't be as hated as expected
- At least 2 more unannounced retail Wii U titles will release in 2016
- Star Fox Zero will be a pretty good game but won't quite live up to what some are expecting
- Smaller scale titles will still be releasing throughout the year leading up to the NX launch
- Rhythm Heaven will finally be released in the west in addition to many third party JRPGs on 3DS (such as Bravely Second which has already been confirmed)
- New 3DS won't get any more exclusives
- Wii U will sell at least 15 million units by the end of the year
- 3DS will sell around 62-64 million units by the end of the year
- NX will sell around 5 million if released in November (more if released sooner)
- NX will be priced at around $300 (so not too expensive compared to past Nintendo consoles)
- Mother 3 will finally be released as a Wii U eShop title! (I know I'm just spitballing with this one but come on it could happen :p)
