Paper Mario: Color Splash

After years of rumors the 5th game I'm the Paper Mario series has been reveled. This time the game is all about the paint.



Even though it's not like the old games I still think we need to see more before we write off the game. I will say that the unique idea is pretty cool at least and there seems be a plot this time.

I for one plan to get it, I love the Paper Mario series & I feel like I've waited too long for a Paper Mario title to release to the Wii U.

I mean the idea seems interesting but the battle system looks even worse than Sticker Star, and those are my favorite parts of the Paper Mario series. TTYD had probably the most perfect battle system of any RPG I've ever played. Plus the world seems really empty and the artstyle looks horrible for a Paper Mario game. Really disappointed. :/ But hopefully it turns out at least okay.

I really just agree with Gameguy there isn't much to say yet, but yeah it is starting to look like a Sticker Star 2, good or bad depending on the player for that I guess.

At the very beginning the idea sounded fantastic. Having Paper Mario using a hammer to paint things. I just ended up being disappointed very quickly. Looks like a Sticker Star sequel and the levels look rather barren. To be fair not that much was shown though. It looks less like an RPG, I wouldn't be surprised if it lacked an experience system. Bill said "Something fresh to the action adventure genre", so Nintendo considers it an action adventure game? That would explain a couple things. I just dislike the idea of this battle system, I don't see what was wrong with the old battle system, I adore that one.

If worlds were connected and the game had the charm the first 3 games had then this combined with the entire paint theme would have been amazing. It looks like a cool idea that had Paper Mario needlessly added to it, I think this would have been great as its own thing. I'm willing to give this a try despite everything I dislike about it from just around a minute of footage, because I just really like the painting idea, just unfortunate to see other things holding it down. Also the title doesn't seem right, it doesn't fit an adventure like Paper Mario to me. Sorry to say I'm very disappointed.

This has a new location, interesting.
It looks like a more 3D version of sticker star, and I don't see any partners.
I'll still definitely get this, it's a Paper Mario game after all.
Hopefully when we see more of it, it looks more impressive than it does now.
The fact that after many asking for a return to the style of the first two games, that they return to this, it seems weird.
Maybe, this is just sort of a stop-gap for the NX Paper Mario?
That could be where they bring in a full fledged Paper Mario, no world map, partners, a good story.
I still look forward to this however.

Very well said, I completely agree with all of that. In fact I feel like it's a hugely wasted opportunity to use the color hammer mechanic on a game that overall looks like it will be a mess. It really does seem like an interesting idea, and if they had just coupled that with the classic battle system (specifically the one from TTYD which was honestly perfect) and a fully connected more interesting world, it would've been great. I really hate the direction this series is going.

It's so weird that they'd continue going this direction with the series, after all the comments people have made about Sticker Star and how people wanted a more traditional game, going back to this is just a really weird move even if it ends up being a decent game. (although from what we have it doesn't look great...) The dislike bar on the reveal trailer shows that too. Barely any likes at all.

It isn't what I was expecting. It doesn't look bad though. I think if they can improve it before launch it can still be a great game! I like Sticker Star more than most people even if it isn't my favorige so seeing it in a similar style to that makes me think it won't be terrible. I think most of you should just wait and see how it turns out, it looks like it could be fun.

Paper Mario: Color Splash launches October 7th and will be featured in tomorrow's Treehouse stream.

That's a really early launch! I'm honestly surprised. I really expected it to end up being delayed for NX launch.

I can't wait for some more gameplay and I thought it would be a November release as the Wii U's last holiday game. Also I'm guessing that amiibo play a part since Nintneod just reveled wave 2 of the Super Mario line.

Nice, can't wait to see confirmation of Color Splash playing like Sticker Star did. :p Or not, either way I'm gonna enjoy it.

The games looks so much better then Sticker Star at least. There are side stories, a new dragon character  the enemy cards add a reason to fight, the puzzles seem more fun to do and there is a story this time. I really think it could be a decent game if some of the hardcore fans opened up to change for once.

Looks like the battle system is more or less the same as it was in SS. So that means avoiding battles and saving your stickers up for important bosses! Lame. 

Also I'm sick of the kooplings, couldn't they add in some original bosses?
