I actually think E. Gadd would be awesome.
Also, I think Fawful would be nice as a playable character in this or at least another Mario spin-off. I think he'd be a cool addition. Also, this might be really weird, but I think maybe Chuck from Super Mario World could be a playable character in this.

I don't think Fawful will make the roster. Because Mario Kart never had any Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi RPG characters.
As for E. Gadd, He was cut from Mario Kart DS and was not in Mario Kart Wii. So he might not be in Mario Kart Wii U.

Anyway, I definitely do believe they were referring to Mario when they said "bigger rivals". The way they're saying it though, perhaps it's just an idea, and they haven't even talked with Nintendo yet. Mario and Sonic Racing though...could possibly be a good game. I'd still prefer Mario Kart though.

Mario Kart U looks good but, I was expected it out this year.
As for the characters it nice to see then Toadette and Waluigi are back in Mario Kart.. I also think that Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Bowser Jr. and Dixie Kong will be in the roster for sure.
