I plan on getting this game in October since I know the Wii U Mario Party will likely take a while.

Here's gameplay of the Foosball minigame.

I guess tabletop games are replacing house party games? That sucks really...foosball looks kinda cool though.

That's what it looks like, interesting.
It does look a bit good though.

Polygon said they played some house party games.
Polygon wrote:Nintendo's upcoming party game, Wii Party U, features several game modes, one of which allows players to play tabletop games on the Wii U's GamePad.

Wii Party U will allow players to access a minigame mode, which contains a collection of traditional party games similar to those found in titles like Wii Party, Mario Party and Fortune Street, a tabletop mode that uses the GamePad exclusively and a brand new house party mode where the focus is on the player using the GamePad.

In one house party game we played called 'Name That Face', we were given a description that we had to act out using our face and take a picture of ourselves doing so with the GamePad. The descriptions ranged from "Your tongue can talk" to "Calling a goose." After taking a photo, the image would appear on the television screen where the other three players — using their Wii remotes — would have to quickly select from a multiple choice screen which face we were trying to pull. The player who guessed the correct answer in the least amount of time would score points.

In another house party game called 'Lost and Found Square,' the player holding the GamePad had to describe the location of an object on a map to the other players so they could pinpoint where it was on the television screen.

Wii Party U will release later this year after recently being delayed.

Amazon has listed Wii Party U for $40. Smile

If this is true I would be happy since $60 seems like a bit much for this game.

Well, $40 is actually pretty cheap, so I might wind up getting this if there's nothing else to play. It seems to use the gamepad in interesting ways, which is something I wanted to see.

Hmm depending on WHEN this title releases is my deal. If it releases before Wind Waker HD I'm not going to get it until much later. But if it releases sometime after then I might consider it.

Wind Waker HD is supposed to be releasing in October, and Wii Party U will ALSO be releasing sometime in October. So I guess it's possible they might even release on the same date? I doubt that though.

I think Wii Party will release on October 6th and Wind Waker will come out on October 13th since Nintendo likes releasing there games on Sunday.

I don't think Wind Waker HD will release on October 13th, Pokemon X/Y will release October 12th, so they're too close to each other. Maybe October 20th?

The info page has some new details on this game.

It's Time to Party with Wii U

Enjoy board games and mini-games on the TV, play familiar tabletop games using the Wii U GamePad controller or transform your living room into a game show floor. No matter what kind of party you're throwing, Wii Party U offers something for everyone.

    Features:

Everyone at the party competes with his or her own Mii characters in a medley of party games.
Experience new ways to play with others using the Wii U GamePad. For example, in "Lost-and-Found Square," imagine you are the person holding the GamePad and you are lost in a playground. Your goal is to describe your surroundings based on what you see on the GamePad in order to help the other players find your location.
Post your impressions of game sessions to Miiverse. You can rate your performance by adding a one- to five-star ranking after the match is over.
When you want to leave the TV behind, you can choose to play exclusively on the Wii U GamePad with an array of 15 tabletop games, ranging from foosball to baseball, for two-player competitive and cooperative play.
In addition to the main games that everyone can play together, there are 80 minigames that can be played on your own. These include the Tabletop Minigame that can be played with the Wii U GamePad only.

That lost and found game sounds cool and I like how you give rate the game modes on Miiverse.

With that said I think Iwata will go over some things about this game in the next Direct and say what day the game will come out.

I think the game might come out on October 3rd maybe since that was when Wii Party game out but I could also see it coming out on October 20th so it's not that close to the Wind Waker HD release date.

I like the lost and found party game, but all the other ones that have been announced sound meh, I don't think I want to purchase this game as I really didn't like the first Wii Party anyway.

And I don't think it would sell well if it released right after Wind Waker HD, so it should release a bit later than that.

    Via PR email.

Wii Party U Launches Oct. 25 bundled with a Wii Remote Plus controller and stand at a suggested retail price of $49.99.

This is a good price since a Wii Remote Plus is still priced at $40 new. I may pick this game up after all since it would be good to have an extra Wii Remote Plus controller and I liked Wii Party on the Wii.

I didn't like Wii Party at all, unless playing with 3 other players. (which can be said for most party games...) If someone in my family wants it, I'd be glad to purchase it for my Wii U as it is a really cheap price.
