    Xbox One Empty Xbox One

Post by Winters Thief Zero Sun Apr 28, 2013 11:02 pm

I decided we should probably have a thread on the next Xbox, which is set to be announced officially and shown off sometime in May.

Microsoft says the price will be $299 with some sort of gold membership thing where you pay $10 a month. Otherwise, it'll cost around $499. By this price, people who said the Wii U was too expensive are totally wrong. Both PS4 and the Nextbox are way more expensive. The new Xbox will also run on Windows 8, making me not want to buy it ever.

Microsoft seriously should'a stopped with 360.

Good God. I fully expect this new home console to be absolute garbage. 'Course, that's my judgmental opinion. I couldn't possibly know for sure.

The PS4 I am somewhat intrigued to see but not really.

Not to mention, Windows 8 makes me gag.

Really I have the 360, and I've had it for like 5 years or something like that and I still feel it's fresh enough, there's no need to go for another console really. I mean they made a new version of the system even with another branch of games for it (though I'd personally never get the Kinect) but it really seems odd to think they're getting a new console, I mean sure it's time, but to hook it up with Windows 8 as well seems really like it's now a computer.

There was also a rumor saying if your interent cuts out for more then three minutes the console shuts off.
If that rumor is true. Microsoft will likely be out of the console market in a few years.

^ No, he meant that if your internet itself is out (like if your modem or router was off) then the console would shut off in 3 minutes. I have to agree, that would just make it even worse than it already seems. (and it hasn't even been shown yet, and I already know it's going to suck badly) I also heard you can't use used games on the console, but it's just a rumor.

I think Microsoft will be out of business in general because of Windows 8 though, not just out of the gaming market.

^Yea I know & what you said is what I was meaning. I just didn't go into explaining it cause I thought it was understood; so my bad. xp

As for the rumor that the nextbox won't be able to play used games? It'll probably end up being true. Shocked But we'll have to wait until E3 to see what's at stake for M$ when they announce their Nextbox.

They're announcing it like 2 weeks before E3. It seems as though all of the current game 'giants' (as they're commonly called, I suppose) are no longer going to use E3 as something to announce new big things like consoles and that kind of stuff.

Usually the big 3 just want to focus more on what they have planned for their consoles; as well as their games. Besides which E3 at first was supposed to be a way for the big 3 to tell their investors how much cash their console is making them.. At least until the gaming community got involved and then it turned into an all out gamer fest with gamers getting journalist passes in order to be able to get into E3 to know what the big 3 were releasing for that quarter.

If anything it sounds to me like the big 3 are trying to get back to the conference being for their investors & less about the gamers really..

Hm, I suppose you're right. They're just trying to get back to what E3 was originally made to be about. Honestly though, I would prefer it still be a 'gamer's fest' as you mentioned, I look forward to that.

Welp just found some interesting information about the Nextbox. One saying that it's not going to always be online but will have something a kin to a cable hook up to it. sauce

While another source says that depending on which Nextbox version you wanna purchase the $499 ($400) or $299 ($350) model will depend on weather or not you get a 2 year contract along with that Nextbox purchase. sauce

Which would mean that the Nextbox would be like having a console with a cell phone contract or some sh*t. HA! OMFG! XD Never thought I'd see the day & if it's true? OMG. XD

I heard about that before, but really, wow. That's just absolutely terrible! (imo) And I think it's a $500 model and $300 with the contract, not what you said. Perhaps it's just a rumor though, which may be why the prices are different on those sources you gave.

Actualy $499 and $299: respectively, according to the source. Plus tax of course. xp
    **Edits my above post.**

But um the $99, 360 model already has this going for it where if you want to get online AT ALL you've gotta subcribe to M$ just to get online. So an assumption that M$ is going the route of a cell phone contractor; isn't surprising in the least.

Heck I'm half surprised that the gaming companies aren't pulling what cable companies have been pulling for years. Charge a nominal rate to get the console, say $50 and then charge the consumer a nominal monthly fee just to play their games.

^ I'm also surprised, however I'm fairly certain I wouldn't even do that, and wouldn't even get the console if I had to pay a monthly fee just to play games. Now, I don't have an Xbox (well, I do have a broken 360...) but would want to buy it even less if that happened. I doubt Nintendo or Sony would do that with their consoles, but it sounds like something Microsoft would do.
