I'm not sure if I will be going to the demo at Gamestop yet.

    Here are some adds.

Nintendo of America needs to the first add on all of the big name tv stations.

They need these on big TV channels. But I have a feeling they won't be aired to many of them. :/ They really need ads for Wii U, and this is the game that people would want for it.

Pretty sad, they don't know where to put it.
Aurora is nowhere, they should've had one in Kingston.

Anyways, they really are promoting this a lot.

^ Of course they're promoting it a lot. They know it's the only game they have releasing that will actually sell Wii U's, so they really need to let everyone know about it's existance. I'm honestly surprised that the game isn't being promoted more than it already is. Razz

That sounds like a good event though, since people in Canada can't try it at Gamestop this weekend.

Most of the reviews are good. However GameSpot just took 2 points off due the characters and the battle mode.  Facehoof

Why should characters even matter anyway? It really doesn't affect how the game plays in any way, and not at all now. (considering only different karts affect your stats)

Either way it's nice to see the reviews were all really positive.

So Zero you're saying if Elmo and Dora were playable it wouldn't matter?

Well, okay, yeah that would matter a lot actually. XD

I guess the way I said that wasn't quite what I meant. I just don't think that the characters are the most important aspect of the game. Of course it would make no sense to add in non-Mario characters or to not have Mario playable at all. (but Elmo Kart would be the best thing ever Razz)

It seems like every playable character is in the demo and that there are also 8 tracks in the demo.

Mario Kart Stadium, Water Park, Sweet Sweet Canyon, Mario Circuit, Toad Harbor, Sunshine Airport, Electrodrome and Cloudtop Cruise.

I can wait 12 more days to play this game since I have things to do tomorrow.

Hm, well I may try it out, but I can also wait 12 days. If I did try it, I'd just play Mario Circuit, since it's the only track I've seen completely. (and I don't want to spoil those other ones) But I probably won't go anyway.

If you buy MK8 at Target next week you can get a free white Wii U wheel. Also some Target's and GameStop's already have a playable demo of the game.

    http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/331103-target-ad-525-531-save-25-on-1-year-xbl-gold-or-ps-with-watch-dogs-purchase-free-wheel-w-mario-kart-8-purchase/

I never liked the Wii wheel and I will likely just get the game at Best Buy over Target.

I heard the Wii Wheel works a lot better in Mario Kart 8 than it did in the Wii version though. But I likely won't get it since I like to use the Wiimote and Nunchuck, and maybe Wii U Pro Controller if it feels good to use that.

I might try it at Target if I ever go there before the game releases. But I don't really plan to.

So who's got this? I played a bunch of it last night mainly co-op online, I'll just note some thoughts and feelings down.

Really really really gorgeous to look at, I guess that's obvious since it's Nintendo art in HD finally.

Runs pretty smoothly, it's not 60FPS in split screen but I don't think it's that far off, and it still looks pretty nice.

All of the new tracks seem to be really wide. None of the tracks have stuck out as a favourite for me but nothing has stuck out as awful either.

They made a lot of the older tracks wider which I don't like. Yoshi's Valley is far less challenging and they got rid of the not knowing your position gimmick which is a shame. Toad's Turnpike is also notably easier and the gap between vehicles is much wider. The one exception for me was Royal Raceway which I like a little better now.

First time I've ever notice the soundtrack in a MK game, it's really damn good. Lots of jazz with some soft rock.

Searching for online games was quick and easy just like the Wii version, and our games were almost always full. The new tournament mode doesn't seem very well conceived if you just want to find a championship, it doesn't tell you how many participants are in the match, only that it's ongoing. We joined a few and they only had a couple of people each time, they screwed up that part badly since every other online game in existence tells you how many people are in a game. Only had one game where there was bad lag, every other game was just fine.

Item balance is a little bit screwy. I got a star in 4th and saw this guy get a Super 8 in 2nd, that's just not right.

Did I mention it looks really good?

Pretty positive so far, I'll have a bit better conclusion when I get used to the tracks and such.
