So who's got this? I played a bunch of it last night mainly co-op online, I'll just note some thoughts and feelings down.
Really really really gorgeous to look at, I guess that's obvious since it's Nintendo art in HD finally.
Runs pretty smoothly, it's not 60FPS in split screen but I don't think it's that far off, and it still looks pretty nice.
All of the new tracks seem to be really wide. None of the tracks have stuck out as a favourite for me but nothing has stuck out as awful either.
They made a lot of the older tracks wider which I don't like. Yoshi's Valley is far less challenging and they got rid of the not knowing your position gimmick which is a shame. Toad's Turnpike is also notably easier and the gap between vehicles is much wider. The one exception for me was Royal Raceway which I like a little better now.
First time I've ever notice the soundtrack in a MK game, it's really damn good. Lots of jazz with some soft rock.
Searching for online games was quick and easy just like the Wii version, and our games were almost always full. The new tournament mode doesn't seem very well conceived if you just want to find a championship, it doesn't tell you how many participants are in the match, only that it's ongoing. We joined a few and they only had a couple of people each time, they screwed up that part badly since every other online game in existence tells you how many people are in a game. Only had one game where there was bad lag, every other game was just fine.
Item balance is a little bit screwy. I got a star in 4th and saw this guy get a Super 8 in 2nd, that's just not right.
Did I mention it looks really good?
Pretty positive so far, I'll have a bit better conclusion when I get used to the tracks and such.
