Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

Wayforward just launched a kickstarter campaign for their new game, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The game is available on Wii U, and possibly other consoles? I really didn't look to see what consoles it's on other than Wii U.

I'm really looking forward to this if the amount of money they need is received. The art style looks weird, so I'm hoping they change it down the road. Other than that it looks great like the other games.

Oh, and just so you know, this is a totally different game from Shantae and the Pirate's Curse on 3DS.

I doubt that art style will be changed: IF AT ALL. As I'm assuming the demo-graph that the developer is going for is probably young men & women. (Such as the MLP:FiM crowd). It's a bit blatantly obvious by the music used when the gameplay footage was shown; so don't get your hopes up thinking the art style used is going to get changed anytime soon there.

Otherwise the game does look kinda cute. xp

I'm sure the art style won't affect the game that much, but I liked it MUCH better in Shantae and Shantae: Risky's Revenge.

I noticed those female scorpion things are back, I hated those. :p

Also, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will be coming to Wii U, as well as Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows.

Apparently, Inti Creates, the developer for many of the Mega Man games, is working on Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, as well as Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.

I hate to triple post but...

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has now been funded! Of course, this means the game has been confirmed for release. If even more is donated, there are stretch goals for a Risky Mode where you can play through the game as Risky, new chapters, and even more. So if you're looking forward to the game, it'd be nice if you could donate to Wayforward.

I for one am glad that the game is going to release.

I guess it's good that the game is coming out. I just don't think WayForward should have asked for money since they made decent money on many games through out the years.

While the Monkey is awesome, it's probably good to have something different this time around. I really like the Lizard idea, as for the Crab, I'd rather it only be chosen if all the chapter stretch goals are reached. (in which all of the transformations will be in the game regardless of votes)

Also, I really like the look of the Spider.

I like the Spider and Monkey forms. I would also like to see a frog form if others want it in.

Last night, enough money was funded for the Risky Mode stretch goal. This means that a second mode will be available in the game allowing you to play as Risky Boots!

As far as I know, it'll have a different storyline, with the same areas previously explored with Shantae, just in a different order due to the different story. Risky also has her own moveset.

I'm excited to play as Risky in this myself. :3

The next stretch goal for this game, a brand new chapter, has been funded!

It's about Shantae entering herself into the Magic Carpet Races, when the Magic Carpets begin to disappear, and she must find the culprit.

Sounds a bit weird for the story to any part of a Shantae game, but I'm sure it'll be fun. :3 Oh, and btw, this chapter will be available in both the main mode and Risky Mode.

Anyway, in less than a day, the next 2 stretch goals were funded. These are the costume swaps, allowing you to dress Shantae as Patricia Wagon, a Ninja, or in her beach day outfit. The other was a fifth chapter!

A new stretch goal was just funded due to PayPal, which adds Hero Mode! It will include 3 characters each with their own story and abilities. (Sky, Bolo, and RottyTops are the playable characters) Here's their abilities:

Sky - Boost using birds, collect and hatch eggs to gain new powers!
Bolo - Charge and release steel ball ‘n chain attacks. Grapple, smash, and take punches like a champ!
Rottytops - Gameplay based on feeding, self-dismemberment, and maybe a little cosplay!

This is awesome! I can't wait to play that mode. Although the game likely won't be out by October considering they have to add this into the game now...at least Pirate's Curse should be out by then, that'll hold me over I guess. XD

I guess that cool and I think it might be for the best if this game is pushed into early 2015.
