by Welcome to TNFS' first ever Halloween Horror Story Contest! Holidays are always a time for some events at TNFS, and this year we're hoping to make Halloween a bit bigger. So one of our new events is this contest, where you can submit your scary stories to be judged by our 3 judges: Gameguy, Cubone, and Luma Party! (or should I say Spinal Guy, BooHooBone, and Dark Luma Bomber?) The rules are fairly simple:
PM a somewhat short story to ME (not like 1 paragraph, but don't make it so long that the judges need to take hours to read them all) that has at least some element of horror to it (it doesn't have to necessarily be only a "horror" story despite the name of the contest (it can be comedic for example), but it must have some kind of frightening theme.
The judges will judge based on the following categories:
- Plot
- Characters (only if you have in-depth characters, this isn't necessarily a requirement!)
- Scare factor (subjective and doesn't correlate directly to how scared it made the reader, more to how the element of scare was used throughout the story)
And please try not to make it look like a horrible mess. :p Send the stories to ME, NOT the judges, as I will send the stories to the judges anonymously. They may be able to tell who wrote it based on the writing styles, but it makes it slightly less biased if they can't. I'll even be including my own story in the mix. :3
The stories must be sent to me by October 30th, will be judged during the next couple days, and the winners will be revealed shortly after. I'll also make all of the stories visible to everyone so they can all be read. (including those that didn't win)
And prizes! Yay! 1st and 2nd place winners will receive a prize, and depending on how many people submit stories, I may extend that to a 3rd place prize. (I just don't want 3/4 of the people participating getting prizes lol) Here's the prizes:
1st Place Winner - A free Special Badge! + Another 50 User Points
2nd Place Winner - 50 User Points
