^ More modern as in smoother and better animation? I'd agree with you there, if it looks better. Otherwise I'd hope it wouldn't look like most modern day cartoons.
But I really don't expect a western cartoon, it'll probably be anime based on his comments and the fact that it's Nintendo. I also don't think we'll be getting a Mario series, it'll probably be something else.

^ Yeah, but that didn't stop Nintendo from licensing him out before for TV shows, anime, and movies. There's even been official Mario manga. Yeah this was decades ago but you really never know, Mario is their biggest franchise even if it really isn't deep enough for another show. Nintendo just wants that money. :p
