Uh, is it just me, or does Shulk's design somehow look EVEN WORSE than it did in Xenoblade?! Either way I'm glad he's there. Also Dunban is part of his final smash! And Reyn Time has finally ended. XD

Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. The legendary hero Riki appears as an Assist Trophy and in Shulk's Final Smash!! As an Assist Trophy, he uses many arts like Happy Happy, Freezinate, and Yoink! He sounds a bit like Tingle…but don't worry, Tingle will make an appearance too. By the way, a cursor will appear above Assist Trophies and Pokémon to indicate which fighter is its ally. Now you can tell right off the bat who it belongs to!!
I think Reyn should have the the AT over Riki since Riki is part of Shulk's final smash. It's cool how the player cursor was added though.
This picture also has showed up on the Japanese eShop on what could be the starting roster.

Yeah come on, what happened to it being Reyn Time? XD
Still that's kind of cool. And I also like how the cursor appears above your assist, so you know whose it is. It was kind of annoying before not knowing.

Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. This time, you can challenge every fighter in All-Star Mode from the moment you turn on the game!! This is a survival battle with limited recovery items and no option to continue. However, this mode will be incomplete until you've unlocked every fighter... Until then, you can only play against characters that are already available. This is a picture of the bottom-screen menu, with a padlock indicating that the mode is still incomplete. In these battles, multiple opponents appear in one stage, and you clear the battle by defeating a number of them. The rest area that appears between battles displays the next opponents and the year the characters made their first appearances, and it also holds recovery items and an occasional reward. The characters you fight against appear pretty much in chronological order. Behold, the history of Nintendo games!!
I guess it's cool that you fight the characters by year and it seems like you fight 5 fighters at once so. We also saw the pad lock in the leak so maybe there is more characters after all.

Well that's pretty cool, I never really played the All-Star Mode in Brawl. (I might not have even played it AT ALL now that I think about it, only the one in Melee) I might use it in this though.

Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. Until now, you were only able to choose from four, or sometimes five or six colors for each character. This time, though, all characters have eight colors to choose from! The first four color schemes for Samus are based off her Varia Suit, Fusion Suit, Gravity Suit from Super Metroid, and the Dark Suit. …And here she is in the color schemes of the Gravity Suit from Metroid Prime, Green Samus (a regular in the Smash series), the Light Suit, and Dark Samus. A total of eight colors. You can choose between four male and four female Villagers to play with. The designs for their faces and clothes are different. And here are the four Villagers we haven't shown you yet.
The leak said that each character would have 8 different colors but, this is the first time that we have seen the other 4 Villagers and the Dark Samus alt. I also think most characters will have at least 2 alts.

That's cool, and having Dark Samus there is nice, but I wish they would let you use a custom Villager, since you can actually customize them in the games. Or let you port over your New Leaf Villager in the 3DS version of something like that. I mean, I like how every Villager "color" is completely different, but would be cool if you could choose from more than that to make it like the real Animal Crossing Villager. Oh well.

Obviously, those that can jump or fly higher will have the advantage, but they also have to avoid the danger zones!! It gets pretty challenging if you've boosted your speed too much, as well. Everyone really gets into this when playing multiplayer.
This Smash Run game is really cool since it like Race to the Finish from Melee. With that said though I feel like Sonic, Mac and Greninja will this game most of the team when it's not COM players. We saw Climb back in the April Direct but, it seems like you really have to balance your Smash Run powers since any game can pop up.

Yeah, Run seems a bit unbalanced considering there's many characters faster or slower than others. Climb seems more fair and more fun too, I just hope it's the only thing we'll have to climb in, and that there isn't an actual stage like that, I hated the ones in Melee and Brawl.

Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. So what is this Games & More option in the menu? I assume that some people may use this mode the most. This is what you see after you click on Games & More. There are many modes to choose from. There's the Options button, too. Futhermore, this is what the screen looks like after you click on Solo. In the Stadium, you can find the Home-Run Contest, various Multi-Man Smash challenges, and Target Blast!
Those menus look good and it seems like you can get items on the classic mode map. Also it seems like event matches are out unless they where moved to a different part of the menu.

Event mode is gone? What?
Sigh...that was a classic mode since Melee and I personally always loved it.
Though then again - it's likely saved for the Wii U version. Still, a shame that the mode was cut from this version if so. There's a possibility it's in another menu for the 3DS version, but by the looks like of it - gonna bet it's Wii U exclusive this time around.

^ I hope I'm not misremembering what Event Mode was. But it IS in the game if you're talking about the different challenges you complete in a battle. (like beating certain characters and whatnot) It's simply called "Challenges" on the main menu. So yeah it's still there, don't worry.
Those menus look just like the menus from Brawl and Kid Icarus: Uprising again, as is to be expected. XD

Err..but the Challenges mode was also present in Brawl alongside the Events mode.
I meant the Event mode filled with the Event Matches that represent different matches between various characters in tribute to past Nintendo games. That mode appears to be completely absent in the 3DS version so far.
Sakurai sure seems to be in the same Uprising mood once again.
