Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. Here's Ike, Marth and…a brand-new stage! Comment: We've added a familiar setting from the Fire Emblem series, the Coliseum. In the original game, this place is filled with both hope and despair. There is machinery in the ground that activates variable platforms.
I think Sakurai is hinting at a third FE character that's likely gong to be Chrom. I really like all of the details that were added to the Coliseum though.

Cool, I always won at the colosseum in Fire Emblem. XD I like the new stage though. I don't see how he's hinting at a third Fire Emblem character really.
Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. Remember the video that introduced Greninja joining the battle? Every Pokémon that appeared in that video will make some kind of appearance in Super Smash Bros! By the way, here's one of the Pokémon that didn't make an appearance in that video--Meloetta. Its vocal attacks reflect off land forms, so they'll be especially effective in a closed environment.
We saw Meloetta in the Direct but, I like how he want over what she does more.
Wow, that's a lot of Pokemon. It's good to see Meloetta be one of them, I really like her. But she does look a bit strange in this. I'm sure Jinx will also be happy about that lol.
What newcomers do you think will be shown at E3? (if any) Personally I think they will be Palutena and a new Fire Emblem character. (maybe Chrom but he'd likely have the same moveset as Marth and Ike, so I don't know...)
I think 2 characters on this list will be shown at E3 along with a character no one sees coming.
Palutena Chrom or some other FE character Ridley Shulk Mii Pac- Man Dixe, Cranky or King K Rool A retro character
I'm going with Pac- Man, Chrom or Palutena and a character that shocks everyone.
Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a game where you collect tons of coins. Thus, it's only natural that many coins will appear in this stage… Wait, is this really Super Smash Bros?? If you collect 100 coins, you transform into a gold fighter! For a short period of time, your attack power will increase and you won't flinch when you receive attacks. This unique stage's name is Golden Plains and it's exclusive to the 3DS version.
I like how this stage has tons of coins on it and how it's named Golden Plains and not something like Mushroom Kingdom 3DS. Also I think Peach might turn into Pink Gold Peach when she gets 100 coins and he might be hinting at Wario's return.
Lastly he did not hint at any newcomers so maybe there none at E3 or he just wants everyone to think that.
That stage is actually really unique, I love it. I'm hoping there are more unique stages like that though, I know I got bored with many that were in Brawl.
I think there will be a Palutena reveal and a new FE character as I've said before. That's probably it though, I hope they don't focus on Smash Bros. too much outside of those couple of characters and maybe a release date for the 3DS version of the game. Unless there's just nothing about it at E3, that could always happen too.
2 new characters have been shown and third character might be shown later and here are the box arts and release date for the 3DS version.

Sakurai wrote:And Palutena is joining the battle! She's using a lot of powers in the video we released, but these are only a few of the powers featured in Kid Icarus: Uprising. For more details, check out the Super Smash Bros. official website. (www.smashbros.com)
Sakurai wrote:For the first time ever, we will be holding a tournament using an in-development version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U! And you can watch the tournament live by visiting the website below!! Bear in mind, every participant will have little to no experience playing with the Wii U version...but what makes the Smash Bros. series really remarkable is the importance of improvisation over memorization. I'd like to stress that this is a work-in-progress version of the game, so please forgive us if we run into some issues.
I'm really happy that Palutena is in and Sakurai made the Miis great. Also I like both of the box arts but, I think the 3DS one is a little better.
Am I the only one who thinks Palutena looks kind of strange in Smash Bros? Either way it's good to finally have a confirmation that she's playable. The Miis are also kind of cool, I guess Reggie is now playable.
Also, I likely won't use Amiibo for this unless I like how the figures used in this are used in other Wii U games. (like Mario Kart 8)
It looks like a Namco character made it in after all and one more retuning character might be back.
Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day, and a surprise announcement. A milestone of video-game history--PAC-MAN joins the battle! He's even older than Mario!! Comment: How does he fight? Check out the Super Smash Bros. official website for more details. (www.smashbros.com)
Pac-Man looks really fun to play as and there were 3 new stages in this trailer. A stage based off of the first Pac-Man game, Pac World and some flower stage. Also since Mr. Game and Watch is getting a Amiibo figure and he was a part of Pac-Man's trailer I think it's safe to say that he's back as a fighter.
Also here's all of the info from the Roundtable.
Pac-Man revealed for the roster. He has the ability to turn into 8-bit Pac-Man as well. He can throw fruit and eat pellets. Pac-Man also has a ghost attack and can utilize a fire hydrant. He will follow the dots he tosses out. - Game and Watch appeared in some footage, but wasn't explicitly confirmed - an arcade-style arena on the 3DS was shown for the reveal - Sakurai joked that Heihachi from Tekken is popular, but didn't say he was on the roster - each character has 12 special variations - You can select amongst 3 moves for each special attack slot. Mario has a fireball, a fast fireball, and a fire orb. not usable in For Glory - Characters can equip items that increase attack, defense and speed, but there's an overall balance to the adjustments. More skills in one area may worse your character in another. - Each of Miifighter 's forms have own unique specials. Can also change mii's clothing like adding hats - Mii Fighters cannot be used in With Anyone mode online. They can be used With Friends. - Palutena is different from other characters and have new and unique special attacks - you can carry customized characters through Wii U and 3DS - Smash Run items can be transferred to the Wii U game - FP stands for Figure Player. Users do not control them. You'll scan the figures in on the character select screen and it'll appear as an FP. They can level up to 50 and will learn how you play. They can also use items. You can also use an FP as a tag-team player. - Sakurai says you don't have to collect every single character. Quite a few characters will get figurines, though. - in Smash Run, pick powers you obtain with the touch screen. 5 minute time limit and random fields are created. You can stumble upon a jet pack item. Bottom screen displays map of whole arena - Warp lets you jump to a different area of the map in smash run. - Sakurai cites need for debugging as the reason the two games aren't releasing at the same time. The debug teamis large and cannot handle both games in parallel, and they want to give both games their full concentration - character transformations were removed to focus on single characters more deeply - Sakurai is not involved in tourney planning. He was impressed with the enthusiasm for this game at today's tourney. He wants to support the scene by making more games like these. - Sakurai says it is hard to balance the game. Sakurai basically did all the balancing himself with Melee. Brawl had a 4 person team give grades to the power of characters. New one has 12 person team. - Sakurai was responsible for the changes from N64 to Melee. He had to use a broader grading system with help from staff when working on Brawl. The process became tricky due to biases in the graders' playing style. For the new games they have 12 graders, but there could still be balance anomalies. - Sakurai says its important to make a game that all people can enjoy, instead of just focusing on one group of players. - Sakurai considers smash a party game. - Sakurai loves making menus and makes sure the important items on a menu are very big. - All of the characters to consider were on the internal roster from the beginning of development. They decided on Greninja long before X/Y came out - Sakurai believe he gave players too much choice in Brawl online. The team is still working to make sure online play works correctly this time around. - Sakurai is returning to Japan tomorrow
^ Yeah, that is kind of awesome. Although I still think Palutena was the best character reveal from yesterday, as I likely won't play as Pac-Man much, and have been waiting for Palutena to be shown forever. XD
It's cool that Pac-Man can transform into his older style.
Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. The goddess is up to bat for the Home-run Contest, a returning mini-game on the 3DS version! It's been streamlined with added features here and there, like sturdier glass and doubled speed for long hits. You can also have fun comparing your rankings for this mini-game with your Global Smash Power.
We saw this mode during the NDE in action for the 3DS and I think it's safe to say that it will be in the Wii U version. It's still nice nice to see a picture of the mode though.
Sakurai wrote:Pic of the day. This is quite a line-up of characters for the gaming world. I mean, it's amazing enough that Mario can fight Pikachu. I hope you enjoy this truly unique celebration!!
Nothing new but it's always nice to see 4 of the greatest characters in one picture.
