Pokemon Crystal Playthrough

This is pretty much my playthrough of Pokemon Crystal. But this won't be done in a style of previous Ness and Lucas Plays, since I think commenting on all the screenshots is too time-consuming. This will be done by summarizing the main events, and showing my Pokemon's stats by images. Thank you.

Oh, and this playthrough is done on a minor Pokemon Crystal hack, where you could catch all Pokemon without trading.

Best Pokemon playthrough EVAR! I friggen love Pokemon Crystal. If I can I'll try to download Crystal & play the emulated version & play it too. That way you won't be alone. :3

Part 1: The Start of the Journey

As usual, my Trainer name is Equinox. It's based after a great SNES game of the same name. (I should really make a Ness and Lucas Talks about Equinox later..)

I got Cyndaquil from Professor Elm. The reason why I chose him is because Chikorita is way too hard to use, and I prefer Fire Types over Grass and Water Types. (Every Starter I chose was a Fire Type- Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Chimchar, Tepig, Fennekin [I haven't played X/Y but still Fennekin is my favorite])

After that, I visited Mr. Pokemon and got the Pokedex. I also named the rival Black. I haven't entered any of the Trainer Battles yet.

Nice, I haven't played Pokemon Crystal. (although I have played Gold so I pretty much know of it's contents ) I guess you're right, I did wonder how you were able to post so many screenshots in your past playthroughs.

I also liked Cyndaquil the best out of the 3 and I like how your Phanpy Long Nose.

Part 2: On the road to Violet City

Along with my Cyndaquil and Phanpy, I passed Route 30 and Route 31 and reached Violet City. Phanpy got poisoned on the way, but thankfully, I had an antidote. Violet City has probably one of my favorite Pokemon soundtracks ever.


Then I went to Ruins of Alph, and solved the Kabuto Puzzle. I also solved the Escape Puzzle where you had to use an escape rope on the room where you were in. (For all Gold/Silver Players- the Escape Rope puzzle were not in these games)

I was planning to go through Sprout Tower at night (and catch Gastly who only appears at night), but somehow I forgot. We'll do that on Part 3.

I started the Sprout Tower Challenge Today. On the way there, I caught a Gastly. And as I said before, since this is a minor hack which makes you able to get all Pokemons in one game, evolving to Gengar will done by a level-up instead of a trade. Oh, and his name was based on Gengar's Japanese/Korean name, Phantom.


Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava today.

After clearing the Sprout Tower with releative ease, I went off to fight with Falkner.


Instead of getting Geodude or Onix, I just decided to use Quilava to beat Falkner. There is a 7 level difference, anyway.


And so, we got the badge! We got the egg from Prof. Elm's aide, too.

Let's stop the timer and check how much time it took me to beat Falkner.

I went through Route 32/33 and Union Cave, and I reached Azalea Town. (I have a big trouble spelling this word. I almost typed Azelea Town)


After dealing with Team Rocket Members trying to steal Slowpokes' Tails, I went off and faced Bugsy. Since I have Quilava, this was pathetically easy. Poor Bugsy.

Let's stop the clock once again.

For the rival battle, facing off with Gastly and Zubat was a blaze. Croconaw? Ugh, this thing made my Gastly faint by its stupid Critical Hit. And Phanpy and Quilva is damaged 2x by Water.. Oh well, I still beat him. He gave me a huge amount of EXP as well.


The egg hatched into Togepi when I was roaming after the Gym Leader fight. I wanted to go for Scrambled Egg as its name, but I had to stick with Scrambled due to the limited space. Togepi is going to be one of our first HM friends, since I don't think it is as good as combat as the later games.

It looks like Long Nose saved the day and I guess your not using Mareep?

Mareep can not be caught in Crystal. But since it is a hack, Mareep is catchable on Route 42. I will definitely use it, since Ampharos is my favorite Pokemon.

Part 5: Dozens of Newcomers

A lot of things happened! Let's look over them.


I went back to Route 29 and caught Sentret. Sentret is going to be our second HM Pokemon. I named her Taiya.


I caught Abra as well after passing Ilex Forest. He will sure come in handy for our adventure. I named him PK Rockin, due to obvious reasons.


We reach Goldenrod City. This is probably my second favorite big city on Pokemon, next to Castelia. Lumicose looks just too complicated for my tastes.


One of the coolest things about this hack is that it gives you a GS Ball on Goldenrod's Pokemon Center, like the JP version. This will be used to catch Celebi Later on.


After training, Abra evolved into Kadabra. Kadabra will also evolve by level-upping in this game, due to the same reasons I explained with Gastly.

I also got Kenya from the police officer, which we have to deliver due to a side-quest. And the next gym leader is Whitney.. Oh god.

I guess your final member will be a water type and I always just used my starter to beat Whitney.

Part 6: I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE WHITNEY!!

I decided to participate on the bug catching contest before facing with Whitney. I easily won since I catched a Scyther. I won't use him in battle, though.


A Tyrogue hatched from the egg that the daycare couple gave me. I really want to evolve him into Hitmontop this time..

For Whitney, I actually defeated her on one go! Clefairy was easy enough, Quilava easily beat it. Miltank crushed Kadabra, Gastly, and nearly crushed Quilava. Phanpy saved the day again.


WHAT?

-Whitney fans should stay away from this section. I'm dead serious!!


Is this a thing to say, when you've got a damn !@#$ing Miltank that crushed three of my Pokemon? Is it a thing to say when you've got a horrendous difficulty, heck? Get a life, Whitney!!


Stop crying, you jerk! I will never forgive you for giving me a trauma when I was eight years old on Pokemon Gold! I HATE YOU, WHITNEY! I wouldn't hate you much if you were a champion, but a Gym Leader? What were the damn Pokemon League Owners thinking? Urrghh!!!


No, you are the one who is the meanie! Many people who faced you recieved some serious trauma from you! You shouldn't have existed in this game in first place! And now you cry? A gym leader who've got a damn #$@%ing difficulty cry in front of me? Oh for god's sake..

Sorry for the rage. But Whitney cried while I was raging, so I think it doesn't matter, lol. Most of you would have thought like this while facing off against Whitney, so who cares.


Goodbye Whitney! I hope I could never see you again! Let's stop the clock.
