Fire Emblem 14 has been revealed for Nintendo 3DS!



I can't believe this is happening. I kind of expected a new Fire Emblem to come soon, but not in this Direct, and definitely not on 3DS! Well, this gives me a new game to play on 3DS soon! Can't wait.

Ha, the opening reminded me of Suikoden 3's opening. xp Anywho; I can't wait to play this new title either. :3 I just hope that I don't have to pair characters with each other as last time; I hate micromanaging. >.<

Excited, playing through Awakening again as a way to get ready for it, I wonder what they'll end up changing, because it definitely looks nice.

^ Yeah, the way Iwata talked about it in the Direct made it sound like it will be at least a bit different from most other Fire Emblem games. Although he could've just been talking about the storyline being different because it has a different writer.

So the game apparently did get an official title in Japan during their Direct. The game is titled Fire Emblem If in Japan. I think it's a really strange name, so I'm kind of hoping it's not the name for the west too. I wonder why it's called Fire Emblem If in Japan though.

It probably has something to do with "what if?", as the player's coice are supposed to be important in this game. In Japan it works well as a title, but not as much in other regions. I hope it gets a better name in the west too.

^ That is true, you're probably right. So they're thinking you'll be asking yourself "what if I made this decision?" It makes sense. I'm thinking the west will get a name revolving around the storyline instead though, or at least I hope so, that's not a very good title.

My guess is that it'll be renamed 'Fire Emblem: What If' when it comes to the west & if so I totally called it. xp

^ I don't know, that just doesn't seem like a name that would settle well in the west to me. You could be right as it would make more sense than just 'if' on it's own, but it would still be a strange name in my opinion.

The I guess the if is since your pick your own path in the game.

So wait.. The new Fire Emblem is basically going to be like one of those 'Choose your own path' books? Those kind of books never were very popular you guys... I'm a bit worried about the popularity of this game now that I realize what kind of game it's going to be. /:

^ I don't think it's really like those though, and I mean, in the past Fire Emblem games have always had a choice element to them like this, it's just going to be expanded upon in this game. If Fire Emblem Awakening was the best selling Fire Emblem game, this is going to do just fine, it looks fairly similar as it's using the same engine, and with Fire Emblem's increased popularity in the past couple years, there's no doubt it'll do well.

Personally I'm also not really a fan of games like that (or those books you mentioned) but it works well in Fire Emblem and I'm really intrigued about how they'll be going about it in this game.

Yea, the choose your own path books never really interested me.. But I could see it working in certain video game franchises where the choice you make would impact who the entire game would be played. If it's done right this next Fire Emblem title could be huge.
