I'm sure it's just a bundle with both versions like Pokemon OR/ AS with no discount or anything.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
alright this game's
eh
they said it would not be at all based off of awakening, yet they're reusing everything from awakening that made it bad.
i've a little faith that this game may be better writter, but from what i've observed the characters themselves will just be another set of walking tropes
... and they even reused awakening characters
the game started out so well too

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
The selling point of this game is to interact with your waifu or husbando anyway.
I don't think this game cares about gameplay. Where's my Goddamn magic, huh?
Unfortunately, I think I'm passing on this one. It's given me a bad impression. And I wasn't fond of Awakening either. I'll just replay the GBA ones or whatever.

waifus is what fire emblem has become. these are bad times
i understand that they are trying to appeal to this "new audience" but they could do so in a..
respectable manner

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
...You guys realize that the "interacting with your waifu" thing is a small extra? They've mentioned that many times already, it really doesn't seem to be taking away from the core experience. Of course I may be wrong, the game isn't out yet, but I really don't think that's the main point of the game.
It may still be the selling point though.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
It's not that it has such a heavy impact on the "story"
my complaint is that they're putting so much effort into waifus and fanservice, both which are hurting the series more and more
awakening may have saved the series but
with the new audience i really want to see less of this and more of what we had in the earlier games

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
I honestly don't notice much of the fanservice or emphasis on "waifus" in Awakening, aside from the obvious beach DLC. Yeah people can pair their avatars up with nearly everyone but that's sort of just there. I'm not sure if it was a selling point, it wasn't in the demo and that's what convinced me to buy the game. I don't mind it, I really enjoyed Awakening for it's Gameplay and characters, the story was fine but I think they could have done better with the villains. I'm not sure how much emphasis of it will be in Fates. Awakening was my only Fire Emblem so far but I will play the ones I want eventually like Sacred Stones. I will play Fates as well when it releases because it looks good like all the other Fire Emblem games.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
^ I totally agree, but I understand some people thinking that's all it's about now. They certainly advertise it in that manner, and to some extent it is pushed in the game as well. But it's still just an extra...
Also, here's some version differences between Conquest and Birthright. This is in addition to the fact that the story and missions themselves are completely different from each other.
Differences between Conquest and Birthright
- 15 main characters that appear in both versions of the game
- additional 26 appearing exclusive to Conquest
- additional 27 appearing exclusive to Birthright
- several have a job class specific to them
- Birthright’s cast includes a bisexual female who can enter into a lesbian relationship with your avatar if she is female
- Conquest has a bisexual male who can fall in love with a male avatar character
- castles look different in these two versions and they produce different resources
- in Birthright, the objectives are almost exclusively “kill all enemies” or “defeat the enemy general”
- in Conquest, the objectives are more complex, tasking you to catch enemies, win within a time limit, defend a point or location, or break through enemy lines, all in addition to the mission types in Birthright
- Birthright allows you to replay missions (with slight changes to the enemy’s composition)
- Birthright allows you to level up/gain money whenever you want
- Conquest relegates you to the 28 story missions, the castle defense missions, and any paralogues you are able to unlock
- in Conquest, this makes for a finite amount of money/exp
Invisible Kingdom DLC
- recruit 67 of Fates’ 68 main characters along with an additional character only available in Invisible Kingdom
- mission objectives have a similar variety to Conquest
- like in Birthright, you are able to replay missions to farm exp and gold

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
Invisible Kingdom sounds like the path I'd be willing to take.
That's the 3rd path if I'm correct.
Too bad my choice I'm making based on the first 6 chapters.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
I'd honestly go Invisible Kingdom if I were to get Fates (which I probably won't), but if not that then definitely Nohr (Conquest). Stuff the Lobster Lord.
Although I'm most familiar with Archanean FE games (FE1/3/11/12) I wouldn't go so far to say that they're the best of the series, I mean the GBA games (what little I've played or read about them) id say top the Archanean ones
Also I feel that FE-Amie (my nickname for My Room skinship) is just a ridiculous extension of the whole concept of supports. Remember Corrin/Kamui are charmers as a character design point so...
Tbh tho I'm just not quite sold on the modification of the Weapon Triangle - I mean, Bows beating Lances (outside of effective damage vs fliers)? What?
On another note, it's kinda cool seeing the amiibo Lords (and Robin) remember their time in Smash. But Marth surely you wouldn't really have formed ally bonds in Smash apart from say TSE lol

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
Wasn't that supposed to release in like July? Either way I'm sure it's great, I'm hoping all the DLC will be available day one for the western release since we're getting it so much later.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
That's good for Japan. I'm not spoiling the Fates DLC for myself but I'm sure it will be good when it comes here. I liked the Awakening DLC. I don't think it will be day one here unless that's how Awakening's worked. I think they'll take their time translating the DLC. I'd honestly rather see it release later anyways.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates
Fire Emblem Fates will release on February 19th. There will also be a special edition for $80 that includes both games and the DLC path.
I plan on getting the special version since the DLC path is pretty much free in that case.
